Japanese Pokemon Cards

Monster Mart stocks over 700 Japanese Pokemon TCG singles across more than 40 sets, from the newest Scarlet and Violet expansions through to Sword and Shield era favourites and special celebration releases. This page is your starting point for browsing our full Japanese range.

Why collectors choose Japanese prints

Japanese Pokemon cards are printed in Japan by The Pokemon Company itself, and collectors notice the difference. Centring tends to be tighter out of pack, the card stock is slightly thicker and glossier, and the holo patterns sit cleaner under light. For grading, this consistency matters: Japanese prints frequently score well on centring and surface.

Beyond print quality, Japanese sets often include rarity tiers that never receive an English release. Art Rare, Special Art Rare, and certain Character Rare variants are exclusive to the Japanese print run, which means the only way to own them is through the original Japanese cards. If you are building a complete master set for a modern expansion, the Japanese version is often the definitive one.

Scarlet and Violet era

The Scarlet and Violet generation has introduced a steady stream of Japanese exclusive sets with new mechanics, the Tera ex system, and some of the best full-art illustrations in the modern TCG. These are our most actively stocked Japanese sets.

Sword and Shield era

The Sword and Shield generation introduced V, VMAX, and VSTAR mechanics alongside some of the most collected Japanese sets in recent memory. Eevee Heroes remains a cornerstone for Eeveelution collectors, while high class sets like VSTAR Universe and VMAX Climax brought together chase cards from across the entire era.

Celebration and special sets

These sets sit outside the main expansion cycle: anniversary celebrations, crossover releases, and standalone products that mark a specific moment in the TCG timeline.

Japanese-exclusive rarities

Several rarity tiers exist only in the Japanese print run. If you collect these, browsing by rarity can be faster than browsing by set.

You will also find Japanese cards in our broader rarity collections: Illustration Rare, Special Illustration Rare, Secret Rares, and Hyper Rares all include Japanese prints where applicable.

Condition and shipping

Every Japanese single at Monster Mart is graded by eye to mint or better before listing. Cards are sleeved on arrival, stored flat in a climate controlled room, and shipped with tracked Australia Post from Brisbane. Top loaders are used on all singles, with team bags and rigid mailers for higher value cards.
