Star Birth (S9) launched in Japan in January 2022 as the first set of the Sword and Shield VSTAR era. It introduced the VSTAR mechanic to the Japanese game and set the template that English collectors would later recognise through Brilliant Stars. The set leans into clean, modern card design with a focus on hero Pokemon getting their first VSTAR treatment, and it remains a favourite entry point for collectors building a Japanese binder.

This Japanese run includes Double Rare V cards, Triple Rare VSTAR cards, and the higher Art Rare and Special Art Rare slots that often do not appear in the English equivalent.
