Collection: Special Art Rare

About this collection

What Is a Special Art Rare?

Special Art Rare (often shortened to SAR) sits near the top of the modern Pokemon TCG rarity ladder, introduced during the Scarlet and Violet era as an evolution of the Special Illustration Rare concept seen in English releases. SARs take an EX or Trainer card and reframe it inside a full-bleed illustration, usually with extended foiling, painterly backgrounds, and a number that pushes past the main set total (the giveaway 200/187, 220/187, or 245/193 print codes).

This collection gathers Japanese-print SARs from across recent sets including Terastal Festival EX, Mega Symphonia, and Mega Dream EX. Japanese cards are favoured by many collectors for their tighter centring and glossier card stock, and the Japanese run often includes SAR and AR variants that never receive an English printing.

Cards You Will Find Here

Current chase pulls in stock include Dragapult EX 221/187 (JP), Bloodmoon Ursaluna EX 225/187 (JP), and Steven's Metagross EX 245/193 (JP), alongside Eeveelution SARs such as Espeon EX, Leafeon EX, and Glaceon EX. Trainer SARs like Janine's Secret 228/187 and Kieran 230/187 round out the range for collectors who organise their binders by character rather than Pokemon.
