Collection: Pokemon 151

About this collection

Pokemon 151 (Japanese release, sv2a) landed in June 2023 and pulled straight from the Kanto well, putting all 151 original Pokemon back into modern Pokemon TCG frames. For collectors who started with Red and Blue, it scratches the nostalgia itch without feeling like a reprint exercise. The artwork leans heavily on environmental scenes and character moments, which is why the set has stayed in demand long after its initial print run. This page is the Japanese set. If you are after the English version (Scarlet and Violet 151), head to /collections/151.

What collectors chase in 151

The headline pulls are the Master Ball and Poke Ball pattern variants, where the card background is filled with a repeating ball motif instead of the standard holo pattern. Master Ball is the rarer of the two and sits at the top of most want lists. From the current inventory, Pidgeotto 017/165 Master Ball and Raichu 026/165 Master Ball are both pattern variants worth a closer look. Zapdos EX 145/165 covers the Double Rare slot for trainer deck builders and binder collectors alike.

Why the Japanese print matters

Japanese 151 has tighter centring on average, glossier card stock, and several SAR and AR cards that were not printed in the English run. Starmie Holo 121/165 is a clean example of the standard holo treatment, while Machoke 177/165 sits in the secret rare numbering above the base set total.
