Collection: Obsidian Flames

Obsidian Flames released in August 2023 as the third main set of the Scarlet and Violet era, and it remains a favourite among collectors for one clear reason: Charizard. Built around the Tera mechanic introduced earlier in the era, this set leans into Dark-type imagery and gives Charizard ex pride of place as the centrepiece chase. Beyond the headline card, Obsidian Flames offers a deep pool of Pokemon ex, full art Trainers, and Illustration Rares that collectors recognise as some of the strongest art in the SV block.

Chase cards and key pulls

The set is anchored by Charizard EX 125/197, with Tyranitar EX 066/197 and Pidgeot EX 164/197 rounding out the most sought after Pokemon ex pulls. Vespiquen EX 212/197 and Houndoom EX 134/197 sit among the favourite Special Illustration Rares thanks to their detailed full panel art. For Trainer collectors, Poppy 220/197 is a standout Special Illustration Rare, and lower numbered cards like Larvitar Cosmos Holo 105/197 give set builders a steady supply of holo variants to organise into binders.
