Mega Dream EX is a Japanese-print Scarlet and Violet era expansion that leans into Trainer-themed decks and the return of EX mechanics, with a deep 193-card numbered run plus secret rares above the set total. The set focuses on collaborations between named Trainers and their signature Pokemon, alongside chase pulls like Lillie's Clefairy EX 060/193 (JP), Team Rocket's Honchkrow Holo 103/193 (JP), and Tapu Koko Holo 054/193 (JP). For collectors who organise binders by character archetype, this release gives you plenty of room to centre full sub-sets around N, Hop, Iono, Cynthia, and Team Rocket.

Rarity tiers and what to look for

You will recognise the standard Japanese tier ladder here: Common and Uncommon Trainers, Holo Rare staples, Double Rare EX cards, then Super Rare full art Trainers, Special Art Rare (SAR), and Hyper Rare gold finishes at the top of the pull rate. Energy Symbol variants such as Chien-Pao EX 043/193 Energy Symbol (JP) and Carkol 096/193 Energy Symbol (JP) are worth flagging, as are Poke Ball and Love Ball reverse patterns like N's Darumaka 027/193 Poke Ball (JP) and Togekiss 066/193 Love Ball (JP), which are exclusive to the Japanese print run.

Japanese cards generally show tighter centring, glossier card stock, and crisper colour separation than their English counterparts, and many SAR and AR illustrations in this set will not appear in the English release.
