What Amazing Rare actually is

Amazing Rare is a short lived rarity that ran through the Sword and Shield era, debuting in Vivid Voltage in late 2020 and continuing through Shining Fates and a handful of follow up sets. The cards are easy to recognise: a watercolour splash of colour bleeds out from the Pokemon, the type symbol appears in the rarity slot in place of the usual star, and the artwork has a painterly quality that sits apart from the rest of the set. Only Pokemon with a strong elemental identity received the treatment, which is part of why collectors still chase the run today.

This page brings together our Japanese print Amazing Rare stock from sets like Shiny Star V and the Sword and Shield expansions. Highlights currently in stock include Kyogre 021/072, Zacian 082/185, and Raikou 050/185, with Reshiram 017/072, Yveltal 117/190 (JP), and Jirachi 119/185 also available. Japanese prints tend to have tighter centring and a glossier card stock than their English counterparts, and the Japanese run occasionally includes SAR and AR variants that never received an English release, which is worth knowing if you are building a master set.

Condition and shipping

Every card is graded by eye to mint or better before it goes on the site, sleeved and toploaded for transit. We post Australia wide with tracked shipping from our Brisbane base, and bigger orders go out in team bags inside a rigid mailer.
