M Tyranitar EX 43/98 is a Mega Evolution card from Ancient Origins, an XY era English expansion. The card number sits within the set size shown on the card, so this is a card from the main run rather than a secret rare.
Mega EX cards were the headline rarity of the XY era. They represented the Mega Evolved form of an EX Pokemon, carrying very high HP and giving up two prizes when knocked out. Mega cards could only be played by evolving from their matching EX, so they paired collectible appeal with a distinct deck building style. Tyranitar has been a heavyweight fan favourite since the Johto games, and its Mega form makes for a commanding card.
Cards like this from the XY era are increasingly sought after as older sets become harder to find in clean condition, so a raw M Tyranitar EX is a worthwhile pickup for collectors of the era or of the Tyranitar line.
