Ferrothorn 209/182 is an Illustration Rare from Paradox Rift, a Scarlet and Violet era set. Illustration Rares, commonly called IRs, set the Pokemon within a wider illustrated scene with extended artwork and a textured foil finish. They prize creative presentation over raw competitive numbers, which has made them one of the most sought after card styles of the modern era.
The 209/182 number is worth noting. Because the first number (209) is higher than the printed set size (182), this card sits in the run of special rarity cards that appear beyond the main set list. Ferrothorn, with its spiked and tangled design, gives an illustrator plenty to work with, and the IR format gives that artwork room to breathe.
Collectors look for the Ferrothorn Illustration Rare because it adds a less commonly chased Pokemon to a Paradox Rift master set, and the artwork led style makes it a rewarding card to display alongside other IRs from the set.
