These cards sit outside the main expansion sets and are typically distributed through events, tournaments, retail tie-ins, holiday calendars, and sealed product bonuses. What makes promos worth collecting

Promos often feature the same Pokemon as their main set counterpart but with a distinct holofoil pattern, set symbol, or stamp that marks them as event or retailer exclusives. The Cosmos Holo finish, found on cards like Tornadus 142/185 Cosmos Holo, Ralts 058/132 Cosmos Holo, and Teal Mask Ogerpon 024/167 Cosmos Holo, is a popular alternative to the standard cracked ice or reverse holo treatments. Stamped sealed promos such as Genesect 008/094 Stamped Sealed carry additional collectible value because they remain in their original distribution packaging.
