About the Evolutions set

Released in November 2016 as the final main expansion of the XY era, Evolutions (XY12) is a love letter to the original Base Set. It revisits the artwork, frames, and roster that introduced most collectors to the hobby in the late 1990s, while updating the cards with modern mechanics like EX and Mega Evolution. For Australian collectors chasing nostalgia with current play value, Evolutions sits in a category of its own.

The 108 card base set leans heavily on the original Kanto roster, so you will find familiar favourites alongside reimagined chase cards. Standouts in our current inventory include Charizard EX 12/108 and its Mega counterpart M Charizard EX 13/108, the iconic Venusaur EX 1/108, and the surprisingly tough to centre Pidgeot Spirit Link Reverse Holo 81/108.

Rarity tiers in Evolutions

Shoppers can browse several tiers within this set. Holo rares such as Zapdos Holo 42/108 and Raichu Holo 36/108 recreate the look of the originals. Reverse Holos cover the commons and uncommons, including trainer cards like Brock's Grit Reverse Holo 74/108. Pokemon EX and Mega EX cards form the main chase tier, while the BREAK mechanic adds a horizontal twist with cards like Machamp BREAK 60/108. Full Art Trainers and Secret Rares round out the high end of the set.
